Yo, Andrew. This is a little test I made to show you a “light” website design. I doesn’t use that much colors, but it’s in my eyes a “good base” to add more colors. This one should probably use more blue. Not that dark blue though.

I should probably do this more IE acceptable though…

The thing is, Andrew, that the colors are well, to out-standing. There’s “dark” grey vs. dark blue, which doesn’t work well. Light grey vs. “normal” blue is fine though.

Aka, all your colors are belong to fail.

Don’t take me wrong though.

And yeah. Try that. But plain is cool, when done right.

… *ahem* The blue is supposed to make a radiating-out effect for the logo. I know you’re a fan of simpler themes in web sites, but that logo just seems a bit too…plain.

Do you think I should go with something closer to what’s on the homepage now?

I don’t like the big ol’ blue gradient behind your logo. I’d just make the logo bigger and delete the gradient. This is how I’d make it look: Picture

Anyways, it’s way better. *thumbs-up*

[EDIT] I am using some custom things like text-shadow when I created that thingy. But I hope you get the idea.

Okay, new plan. I think I’m going to completely scrap this design, and just take some elements to the old one. Because I actually like it better now that I look at it. I know it’s kind of a waste of time, but I actually agree with you guys now.

You could delete “Web and Graphics designer”. (Center it?)
The grey logo thingy is… not good. Take it away,
Tone down the fadings. The fadings are crazy!
Maybe make “Home .. About” have bigger text and boxes. Or delete the boxes. (Fading is not that bad on these though.)

You know that black border below this thingy? Yeah. Make the cover the content box. And not just be aligned to the center like that. Right now it just looks out of place. (Maybe take in BELOW the whole grey box. Aka, make the BIG grey box end. And under that have the “Valid XHTML and CSS..” piece of text. Written in light grey.)
